Manage project milestones

This guide explains how to set up a project’s milestones, update or recalculate their dates, and track them across projects using the timeline view. Milestones are key checkpoints linked to a project’s workflow, so they show you where a project sits in its lifecycle and support reporting on progress across your projects.

Ensure you have owner or editor permission to manage the project. Contact your administrator if you cannot manage a project.

Set up milestones when you create a project

  1. Select Content Portal from the app switcher in the left navigation.

  2. Select Collaborate, then select the All Projects tab.

  3. Select Create New Project from the top-right corner of the tab.

  4. In the Create Project modal, enter the required details and set the project’s start and end dates.

Storyteq CMP uses these dates to calculate the milestone schedule.

  5. Select Next to move to the milestone calculation step.

  6. Choose whether to calculate milestones From or To a selected date.

  7. Select a date to calculate your milestones from:

    • Project Start Date (default)

    • Project End Date

    • Custom Date

  8. Select Create and the newly created project opens.

Storyteq CMP calculates milestone dates automatically, based on your selection and the duration defined between each milestone.

You can still adjust milestone dates after the project is created, as described in Update a milestone date.

View a project’s milestones

  1. Select Content Portal from the app switcher in the left navigation.

  2. Select Collaborate, then select the All Projects tab.

  3. Select a project.

  4. Navigate to the Milestones tab.

The milestone dates shown here reflect how the project owner chose to calculate them when the project was created.

These milestones mark key stages of the project, so you can track progress against delivery timelines and SLA expectations.

Update a milestone date

  1. Open the project’s Milestones tab.

  2. Select next to the milestone you want to change.

  3. Select a new date.

Work backwards from the final milestone, so every earlier milestone date stays in logical order.

Recalculate milestones

If your timeline changes, recalculate every milestone date instead of updating them individually.

  1. Open the project’s Milestones tab.

  2. Select the Actions dropdown, then select Calculate Milestones.

  3. Choose whether to calculate milestones From or To a selected date.

  4. Select a reference date: the project’s start date, its end date, or a custom date. Project start date is selected by default.

  5. Optionally, turn on Preserve achieved dates to keep the achieved dates on any milestones already completed.

  6. Select Confirm.

Storyteq CMP updates the milestone schedule based on your selections.

Track milestones on the timeline

Once a project is live, use the timeline view to track progress across multiple projects at once.

  1. Select Content Portal from the app switcher in the left navigation.

  2. Select Collaborate, then select the All Projects tab.

  3. Open a Projects list page.

  4. Select Timeline.

The timeline lists every planned and active project: project names on the left, and each project’s timeline, including its start and end dates, on the right.

Update project dates from the timeline
